Ernest Pruitt, 72, of Holly Springs, died March 27, 1984, at his home after a period of declining health. Funeral services were held in the chapel of Sosebee Funeral Home in Canton with the Revs. Clyde Vaughn and J. S. Doughty officiating. Interment was in Cherokee Memorial Park in Canton. Pallbearers were Dewey Cole, Richard Gray, Doug Hillhouse, Ronnie McCoy, Clifford and Jerry Reece.
Mr. Pruitt was a retired heavy machine operator employed with Cherokee County. Survivors include his wife Nellie Pruitt; sons Luther Puritt, Pat Pruitt and Jimmy Pruitt; daughters Tennie Underwood, Susie Allen, Grace Bates, all of Holly Springs, Aline Peardon, Mary Ann Manous and Teresa King; sisters Ruth Hillhouse and Pearl Turner, all of Canton; brother Joe Pruitt, Toonigh; 18 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
