Clair H. Coates, 87, died August 20, 1991.

Born in Chester, October 27, 1903 to Hyrum Levi and Mary Ellen Kump Coates.

Married Laura Jane Metcalf in Manti July 30, 1924; she died March 25, 1986.

He was a farmer and rancher.

Survived by children, Mrs. John (Mary) Pavich, Midvale; Cleve, Clyde, and Guy, all Gunnison; Boyd, Milford; Mrs. Don (Nola) Aston, Pleasant Grove; Mrs. Halvor (Sada) Gates, Rancho Cordova, Calif.; and Clair, Tayorsville; sister, Ardell Knighton, Gunnison; and Rex, Pleasant Grove; 23 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by two daughters.

Funeral service Friday, 12 noon, Gunnison Stake Center, where friends call Thursday evening from 7-9 p.m. and Friday, 10:30-11:30 prior to services.

Burial in the Gunnison Cemetery.
