Viola 'Vi' M. Olds
Viola "Vi" Marie Olds, 80, Brainerd, formerly of Outing, died Monday, Sept. 18, 2000, at St. Joseph's Medical Center in Brainerd.
She was born Dec. 7, 1919, in Sauk Rapids to Mike and Muriel (Lewis) Dropps. She married James M. Olds on Dec. 31, 1935, in St. Paul. She was a member of the Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Baxter and a former member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Outing. She also was a member of Women of the Moose in Brainerd. She operated the Standard Oil Co. in Outing from 1944 to 1967. She was a rural mail carrier from Outing to Swatara for many years.
Survivors include a daughter, Donna Peppel, East Gull Lake; two brothers, Herbert and Floyd Dropps, both of Hill City; a sister, Doris Hansen, Springfield, Ill.; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Her husband died earlier.
Services will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Baxter with Revs. Darrell Pedersen and Robert Aulle officiating. Burial will be in the Pine Ridge Cemetery in Emily. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Outing with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. and one hour before services Thursday at the Baxter church.
