Son of Samuel Mitchell and Anna (Ullery) Helvie. Married Martha A. Pearson on 2 Dec 1852 in Cass County, IN. Father of William M. b. abt 1854, Amos L. b. abt 1854, Mary b. abt 1855, Charlotte J. b. abt 1859, Rececca b. abt 1860 and Charles b. abt 1864.

George Helvie, an old and respected citizen of Cass county, died yesterday at his residence near Anoka, of typhoid fever.
The deceased was over fifty years of age, and had ever borne the reputation of a good citizen.
The funeral was held this afternoon at 10 o'clock, at Seven Mile church,and was largely attended.
