H. Lester Bair
LOGAN - H. Lester Bair, 84, Cache Valley church and civic leader, died at Layton Monday of a heart ailment. Born at Richmond, Sept. 29, 1872, to Hyrum and Mary Van Orden Bair. Served a mission to the Southern States 1894; two short term missions to the Northwestern and Southern States; was bishop of Cove Ward 1917-31; active in Seventies and High Priest Quorum work; past superintendent of Sunday School, farmed and was a civic service worker. Married Harriett A. Skidmore, 1897, Logan Temple, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She died 1950. Survivors: four sons, Marion L., John S., Salt Lake City; Melvin D., H. Wendell, Layton; one daughter, Mrs. Warren Ashton, Malad, Idaho; 1(? unreadable) grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, two brothers, Milton, Burley, Idaho; J. Francis, Trenton, Cache County; three sisters, Mrs. William Sorensen, Reyburn, Idaho; Mrs. Ray Rich, Meridian, Idaho; Mrs. Delbert Kirby, Boise, Idaho. Funeral Thursday, noon, Logan Sixth Ward Chapel. Friends call at Nelson Funeral Home Wednesday, 6-9 p.m., Thursday after 10 a.m. Burial in Richmond Cemetery.
