Morton Sumner Mack, 77, passed away in his sleep early Monday morning, after a heart attack. Mr. Mack had been making his home with his daughter, Mrs. Earl May, and Mr. May, and although suffering usual sypmtoms that come with declining years, he had made regular trips to town, the last on Sunday.
Mr. Mack was born at (Pittsburgh), Iowa. He moved to Hooper as a boy, and have been a Hooper resident since. On May 21, 1899, he married Ida Clair (Caulkins, who preceded him in death on Nov. 2, 1937.
Survivors include 6 sons, Morton C. of Sioux City, Ia; Norman C. of Lincoln; Lawrence of Ames; Dale of Des Moines, IA; Marion of Anchorage Alaska; and Donald of Fremont; and 4 daughters, Mrs. Earl May of Hooper; Mrs. Bernice Schlote of Denver; Mrs. Tony Bert of Lavaca, Ark; Mrs. Lyle Sampson, Winslow; a brother James of Los Angeles, Calf. 28 grandchildren; 15 (great) grandchildren. One son (Gordon)two brothers and three sisters preceeded him in death.
The funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Methodist Church with Rev. C.V. Powell in charge. The body lay in state from 7 to 9 Wednesday at the Wollmer and Warne Chapel.
Mrs. Clarence Hiebenthal pianist, will accompany the soloist, Rev. Milo Reinke of Winslow. Pallbearer(s) are Charles Hively, Calvin Hull, Charles Royer, C.R. Otteman, John Shaffer and Adoph Heyne. Internment will be in the Hooper Cemetery.
