Eremita, a resident of La Puebla and originally of Cundiyo, passed away peacefully with her family by her side. She was predeceased by her father José Simón Vigil; mother Beatrice López; husband Marcos T. Vigil; sons: Lorenzo Vigil and Fidel Vigil; daughter Martina Martinez; brothers: Damacio Vigil, Tomás Vigil, Liborio Vigil, Elias Vigil, and Emiterio Vigil; and several grandchildren.
Eremita was survived by her daughters: Alicia Abeyta-Vigil, Anita Ortiz (husband Orlando), and Rosalia Chávez (husband Silver); sisters: Leonardita Vigil, Grabielita Ortega, and Celina Rivera; sisters-in-law: Amelia Vigil and Martína Vigil; son-in-law Wences Abeyta; 27 grandchildren; 57 great-grandchildren; many great-great-grandchildren; and numerous other loving relatives and friends, too many to mention.
A public visitation and Rosary were held on 21 September 2010 in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel at the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory. Mass of Christian burial was on 22 September 2010 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Chimayó. Burial followed in the Cundiyo Community Cemetery. Pallbearers: Vences Abeyta Jr., James Abeyta, Mark Vigil, Gabriel Ortiz, Silviano Chávez, Dean Chávez, Frankie Martinez and Mel García. Honorary pallbearers: Orlando Ortiz, Merejildo Ortega, Gilbert Rivera, Jake Vigil, Eddie Vigil and Beatrice Martinez.
