Alfred Jackson McQuerry, a Fort Worth building contractor and carpenter for more than 50 years, was born in Collin County, Texas, the youngest child of four sons and two daughters of Dr. William McQuerry (1833-1909), a homeopathic physician, and his wife, Martha Louisa Ruth Degman (1841-1909)--both of whom were natives of Jessamine County, Kentucky. Alfred McQuerry married Bertha Viola McBurney (1885-1955), who was born in Lampasas, Texas, on June 4, 1903, in Zephyr, Brown County, Texas. They were the parents of Burney Alfred McQuerry (1906-2002), Charles William McQuerry (1908-1909), Jack Wendell McQuerry (1910-1992), Mary Ella McQuerry (1913-1950), Betsy Viola McQuerry Erskine (1919- ),and June Marie McQuerry Gallesich, Ph. D. (193-2008).
