She was married to Dr. William M. McQuerry Dec 24, 1858 in Collin Co. Texas. They had 9 children. She died from injuries from the Zephyr tornado in 1909.

Martha Louisa Ruth Degman only child of Jabez Craven Degman (1797-), of Springdale, Mason, Kentucky and Martha Crawford (1802-1846) of Lewis County, Kentucky. After Martha's mother died her dad left her with Godfrey Smith Baccus (1812-1907), a general store owner in Collin Country, TX, and his wife Minerva Cantrell Mills Alcorn (1810-1887). Auntie Baccus was the sister of Martha Degman's future husband Dr. William McQuerry's mother Mary Ann McQuerry.In 1854, Jabez Degman acquired a land title as part of Peter's Colony in Tarrant County, Texas, but apparently, he left her in the care of the Baccuses.
They married in Collin County on December 24, 1856. Lived primarily in Collin and Brown Counties during their marriage. They were the parents of two daughters Martha Louise McQuerry Abbott (1860-1933) and Minerva Jane McQuerry (1866-1953) and four sons William Godfrey McQuerry(1862-1925),George Frame McQuerry (1870-1952), James Claude McQuerry (1872-1947), and Alfred Jackson McQuerry (1878-1974).
Both died from injuries sustained during the Zephyr tornado on May 30, 1909. Doctor McQuerry on September 24, 1909 and Martha on October 7, 1909.
