EFFINGHAM DAILY NEWS, FRIDAY, 27 FEBRUARY 1953,
GEORGE MAYCROFT EDGEWOOD, DIES EDGEWOOD--
George Robert Maycroft, 75, of Edgewood died at 9:30 p.m. Thursday in the Veteran's hospital at Marion. He had been taken to the hospital at noon yesterday by the Gerbel ambulance service of Edgewood.
Mr. Maycroft was a Spanish-American war veteran, and a member of the V.F.W. post of Effingham.
Surviving are his wife, Melinda; two daughters, Sylvia McCarter of Haywood and Mrs. Beulah Siddens of Mason; four sons, James of Fresno, Calif., Robert of Strasburg, Earl of Joliet and Ray of Effingham; one brother, Bert of Sullivan; 14 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
The body is in Gerbel funeral home, Edgewood, but will be taken to the family residence at 5 p.m. today. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.

EDGEWOOD--Funeral services Edgewood will be held Monday at 2 p.m. in the Edgewood Christian church, Rev. Hira Byers will officiate. Burial will be in the Edgewood cemetery.
The body was taken to the family home Friday afternoon. Gerbel funeral home of Edgewood is in charge.
Mr. Maycroft died Thursday evening in the Marion Veteran's hospital. He leaves his wife, two daughters, four sons, one brother, 14 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
