Bert J. Maycroft, 82 of Sullivan, died at his home at 5 p.m. Friday, May 1. He was a retired farmer.

He was born Nov. 17, 1881 in Effingham County to James and Margaret Miller Maycroft and was a member of the Church of Christ. He was married to Jessie Smith March 11, 1932.

Besides his wife, he is survived by five sons, Thomas of Shannahon, Ill. Marion of Wheaton, Lawrence and George of Arthur and Allen Smith of Hammond; three daughters, Mrs. Wilmer (Lou) Mueller of Columbia, Ill., Mrs. Wayne (Florence) Field of Arthur and Mrs. William (Doris) Seitz of Sullivan; 19 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at McMullin's Funeral Home with Bert Cain officiating. Burial was in Greenhill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Loren Patrick, Charles Fleener, Seth DeVore, Robert Williams, Don Elzy and Henry Johnson.

Bert Maycroft of 703 South Worth St. in Sullivan, 82-year old father of Mrs. Wayne (Florence) Field of 112 N. Elm in Arthur, and George Maycroft of 825 E. Washington, Arthur, and Lawrence Maycroft of rural route 2, Arthur, died in his home at 5 p.m. last Friday (May 1, 1964) following an illness of six years.

Mr. Maycroft, a retired farmer, had been a bed patient for one week prior to his death and had been confined to a wheel chair for the past six years. He had been a member of the Church of Christ for his entire adult lifetime. He was born in Effingham County on November 17, 1881.

Surviving Mr. Maycroft, other than his two sons and daughter of the Arthur community, is his wife, Jessie; three sons, Thomas of Channahon, Marion of Wheaton and Allen Smith of Hammond; two daughters, Mrs. Wilmer (Lou) Mueller of Columbia and Mrs. William (Doris) Seitz of Sullivan; 19 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters and three brothers.

Funeral services were conducted in the McMullin Funeral Home in Sullivan at 2 p.m. last Sunday (May 3) with Bert Cain officiating. Burial was in Greenhill Cemetery at Sullivan.
