JOHN WESLEY CHAPPELL
John Wesley Chappell, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Chappell, was born October 11, 1872 in Calhoun County and reared in Talladega County. He was married January 9, 1901, to Miss Nettie Maude Caudle, daughter of *Mrs. B.B. Caudle; died April 11, 1929. He is survived by his widow and six children, Mrs. L.M. Horton, Brighton, Ala.; Ms. J.B. Booze of Columbia, Ala.; Mrs. H.L. Johnson, T.W. Chappell, Emily and William of Birmingham. Brother Chappell was a loyal member of Twenty-first Avenue Methodist Church, spending his last moments of active life in the service of the Church. The Church sustains a very deep loss, as does his wife and children. Only God, who gives and takes away, can fill the vacant chair, but to Him we go in this hour of grief, knowing that He is able and willing to give us comfort in this hour of grief and to be husband and father to his grief stricken family. C.M. Tyndal, Pastor

Note: John's death certificate and the Burial Index say that he died on April 10th, 1929.

*Nettie Maude's parents were Robert Blatcher Caudle and Emily C. Morris.
