Alabama Christian Advocate, June 5, 1890
Mrs. Cynthia A. Mizzell, wife of James Mizzell. She was the daughter of W.M. and M.A. Chappell and sister of A.J. Chappell of the North Alabama Conference; was born in Clay County near Ashland, Ala., July 27, 1870 and died May 3, 1890. She was married to Mr. James Mizzell, February 2, 1888. She professed religion in 1888 and joined the Methodist Episcopal Church, South, in Chandler's Spring Mission, in which she lived a consistent member to the day of her death. She had strong faith in Christ. She was not only negatively, but positively religious. The fire of God's love being kindled in her soul, it shone out through a beautiful, consistent and well regulated Christian life, so that all who came in contact with her saw indeed the light. She suffered much and a long time, but now she is at rest in the arms of Jesus Christ. The last time I saw her was a few weeks before her death. She told me that she would not see me any more on earth, but would meet me in heaven.
Love could not save her to us on earth, else she had not died. Conscious of the approach of death, she met it with firm trust in God. Her heart was fixed and stayed upon God. Pray for her bereaved father and mother, that they may continue faithful and meet her in heaven. Pray for her bereaved husband that he may be converted and at last meet her in heaven, there to rest forever and ever.
Her Brother,
A.J. Chappell
