Death has again laid his heavy hand upon us, taking another old and honored resident from our midst one who has been an active factor in the up building of this community for the past thirty years. Mrs. Rosetta B. Comstock Bennett, who died at the Bennett homestead 5 miles northwest of this city.

Rosetta Comstock was born March 3, 1828, in Ontario county, N.Y., was united in marriage in March 1851 to David Bennett was the mother of seven children, two of whom have preceded her to the unknown land of the dead.

She came to Nebraska, with her husband and family in 1877, homesteading the farm on which she has ever since made her home. At the age of 79 years she gave up the life struggle. It goes without saying that hers has been an active an successful life. When a woman has reared a family and seen come of them pass the meridian of life's ordinary run, she can indeed feel that her task has been done. And the knowledge is with each one of us that the day will come, think of it as we will when your mother and mine must join the unnumbered hosts that have gone before.

The funeral services were held at the home on Tuesday Rev. Howard of Wescott officiating and the remains were laid beside her husband in Lee Park cemetery, he having died 14 years ago. The Masonic lodge of Arcadia attended in a body. And thus surrounded by three stalwart sons, Ed, Warren and Jesse another of our just and most respected has been returned to dust.
