MATHEWS - Maynard H. Mathews of 243 Loretta Way, Eugene, passes away March 17, 1980 at the age of 87. He was born May 27, 1912, in Armstrong, Iowa, and was married to Gertrude Gaier in Jamestown, North Dakota on January 23, 1932. He was a partner with his brother, Milo, in Mathews Bros Builders; a past president of the Eugene Home Builders Association, the PTA and the Eugene-Cottage Grove Gun Club. Surviving besides his wife are two daughters, Geraldine Crabtree and Mrs. Karl (Jacqueline) Hurst of Eugene; his brother Milo of Eugene; five grandchildren, Julie and Lori Crabtree and Kathy, Scott and Jamie Hurst, all of Eugene; three half-brothers, Wayne of Alaska, Lynn and Dan of Fairmont, Minnesota; three half-sisters, Arlene Farrow and Velata Childers both of Washington D.C.; and Wayve Even of Rice, Minnesota. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 20 at 1:30 p.m. in POOLE-LARSEN CHAPEL, with Pastor Richard Grudt of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church officiating. Private interment to follow in Lane Memorial Gardens. Contributions may be made to the Heart Fund.
