Shortly after Nordin & Helga Sorby 's marriage in 1930, they moved to Faunce near the Canadian border where they operated a general store for one year. They then returned to Hill River township where he was associated with his father in operating the store for one year. He then farmed for 10 years in the same township until 26 September 1942, when he moved to Fosston, MN where he bought a home.

During this time he had been active in the trucking business, as well as farming and in 1940 the M. M. & O. Transfer Co., was formed with Stanley Ophus and Obed Matson as partners and the truck line progressed rapidly under his management Nordin was a cattle buyer. He bought from local farmers. In return, he trucked them to St Paul and/or Chicago, selling them to the stock markets and slaughter houses in these two cities. .

He was accidently killed, Tuesday morning, while assisting with loading operations at the Carl Nystrom farm.
