Iona was born Dec 5, 1918, in Twin Valley, Minn., the daughter of Ole and Mina (Aasgaard) Nysetvold. She was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Twin Valley, where she also attended grade school and high school.
On Jan. 14, 1945, she married Kermit Kvenvolden in Twin Valley. She worked as a bookkeeper in the office of S & L in Fergus Falls for many years until she retired.
Since 1946 she was an active member of First Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls. She was a circle member, on the Altar Guild, and also participated in Love Days, making quilts for missions. Iona was also very active in the VFW Auxiliary.
Iona loved to bowl and she went on many trips around the United States with her bowling buddies. The family enjoyed going camping at Itasca State Park and at Walker, Minn.
Survivors include her four children: Danny Kvenvolden of Fergus Falls, Jayne Bisson of Fergus Falls, Michael (Carol) Kvenvolden of Abbotsford, Wis., and Kevin Kvenvolden of Fergus Falls; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a brother, Orwin Nysetvold of Appleton, Minn.; four sisters: Judy Pfaff of Appleton, Loanna (Wayne) Wagstrom of Moorhead, Enid Burkholder of Two Rivers, Minn., and Dorothy (Robert) Hammer of Chambersburg, Pa.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Kermit, in 1993; three brothers; one sister; and two stillborn daughters.
In lieu of flowers or memorials, donations are preferred to an organization of the donor's choice in Iona's name.

Service: 2 p.m. Thursday, June 24, in the Light and Life Auditorium at Broen Home, Fergus Falls
