Mr Smeltzer was born a mile north of Wakarusa on the Smeltzer homestead, the son of Henry and Elizabeth Smeltzer and grew to manhood in this community.
He was married to Miss Elizabeth Garber and five children blessed the home, two having died in infancy. Those living are Paul Smeltzer, Mrs Gillien Berkey and Mrs L L Hershberger.
He was a member of the Mennonite church of Nappanee and a devoted worker in the cause of Christ.
Those left to mourn are a devoted wife, three children, 11 grandchildren, two brothers, David and Samuel, of Wakarusa, and three sisters, Mrs John Parcell, Mrs Anna Letherman and Mrs Edw Gegax.
Funeral will be held Friday morning at 10 o'clock, at the North. Main Street Mennonite church, Nappanee. Burial at Union Center cemetery.
