LIFE'S BATTLE OVER
MRS. J. B. WYLAND
Mrs. J. B. Wyland passed away at her home on East Court Avenue Tuesday afternoon at 1 o'clock, following an illness of several months duration, being confined to her bed the past six weeks with anemia.
She was one of the noblest types of womanhood. Her whole aim in life was to do good in the world and be true to her God and fellow creatures. She visited the sick and afflicted and was always ready to lend a helping hand to those in adverse circumstances.
Jane Talbott was born in Clay Co., Indiana, February 28, 1849. When a child she came with her parents to Iowa, locating on a farm near Attica. Later they resided in Pleasant and English townships.
She was united in marriage December 24, 1869, to James B. Wyland. Six children were born to this union, one dying in infancy. Those living are Dr. S. I., of Santa Rosa, Calif.; Robert, of Alamagordo, N. M.; Edgar, of Des Moines; Mrs. Eliza Stanger, of Cedar township and Dr. Dora McAfee, of this city, who were with her when the final summons came with the exception of Robert, who did arrive in time for the funeral.
She united with the M. E. church in English township when fourteen years of age, and her conversion was a bright light from above guarding her footsteps, and was an inspiration through all the years of her life.
With the exception of ten years spent in Kansas, she has lived since childhood in Lucas county. They moved to Chariton in the spring of 1902 where they have since resided. It can truly be said that her life was well spent and she has gone to the reward of the faithful.
