FUNERAL SERVICE HELD WEDNESDAY FOR MRS. LARAMORE

Funeral services for Mrs. W. T. LARAMORE who died at her home in Steamboat Springs on October 11, were held Wednesday afternoon from the Congregational church. Rev. Nelson Hill Jr., gave the funeral sermon and Mrs. Elvin Bowen and Mrs. Rachel Keefer, accompanied by Mrs. F. C. Kelso Jr. sang appropriate songs.

Pallbearers were all grandsons and grandson-in-law of Mrs. LARAMORE and were Elmer DOOR Jr., Henry DORR, William LARAMORE, Charles BARNES, Robert WOOD and J. A. NELSON. Burial was in the Steamboat Springs cemetery beside Mr. LARAMORE who died a number of years ago.

Samantha Isabel BIRD was born near Springfield, Missouri, September 19, 1859. When she was 16 years of age she came with her parents in a covered wagon caravan across the plain. Her parents and other relative drove their stock
thru and lived in constant fear of the Indians during the entire trip. The BIRD family settled first near Florissant, Colorado, and it was here that she met William LARAMORE. Following their marriage in January, 1881, the young couple returned to Shenandoah, Iowa, his former home. Here three of their children, John, Hattie and Viola were born.

In 1887 the family returned to Colorado coming to Yampa where the Birds had then settled. Another move to the Sidney valley, was made in 1893. Two other children, Opal and Mina, were born after the return to Routt county.

Mrs. LARAMORE was always devoted to her family and in later years often entertained them with stories of her experiences in crossing the plains. For the past several years she had made her home in Steamboat Springs where she was often visited by members of her family.

Mrs. LARAMORE is survived by her five children, John LARAMORE, Mrs. Elmer DORR, Mrs. John PAGE, and Mrs. Arthur SCHMIDT, all of Steamboat Springs and Mrs. Everett STAPLETON of Grand Junction, 11 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and three brothers, Robert and Loren BIRD of Yampa, and Ulysses of Newcastle, Colorado.
