Funeral services for Mrs. Myrtle Wilson, 76, of Cookeville, were conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 26, 2000, from the chapel of Goff Funeral Home in Monterey with Rev. Ovle Tinch and Rev. Frank Davis officiating. Burial was in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery with Goff Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Wilson, a homemaker, died Saturday, September 23, 2000, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.

Born September 10, 1924, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Andy and Clora (Vaughn) McCowan. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Evelyn Kirby and Noble Melton; and three brothers, Thurston McCowan, Holly McCowan, and James McCowan.

She was a member of the Algood First Freewill Baptist Church and worked as a dietician in the Putnam County School System.

Survivors include her husband, R.G. Wilson, Cookeville; a daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Don Stroud, Columbus, OH; a son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Jean Wilson, Crossville; a sister, Cliva Phipps, Monterey; two brothers, Homer McCowan and A.C. McCowan, both of Monterey; five grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
