Noble Melton
MONTEREY - Funeral services for Noble Melton, 70, of Monterey, will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 10, from the chapel of Goff Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Wilson Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mrs. Melton died on Tuesday, Sept. 8, 1998, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.
She was born on April 28, 1928, in Overton County to the late Andy and Clora Mae Vaughn McCowan. Mrs. Melton was a homemaker and a member of Crossroads Free Will Baptist Church.
Her family includes her husband of 43 years, Thomas (Puter) Melton of Monterey; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Delene Keith of Cookeville, Patty and Johnny Tays of Monterey and Pam and Rick Sullins of Buffalo Valley; a son and daughter-in-law, Laddie and Brenda Wilson of Hendersonville; three sisters, Cliva Phipps of Monterey, Evelyn Kirby and Myrtle Wilson, both of Cookeville; two brothers, Homer McCowan of Crossville and A.C. McCowan of Monterey; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Hollie, Thurston, James, Paul and Daniel McCowan.
Revs. Clayton Padgett and Willie Anderson will officiate at the services
