A LOVING MOTHER
SARAH ELLEN EASTIN
January 4, 1871 - August 2, 1944
The life of this dear mother came to a close on the morning of Thursday, August 2, 1944, at the age of 73 years, 6 months, and 28 days; and now that her busy life is over we can say in the Master's own words, "She was among us as one who served - she had done what she could." And of her death, which was sudden and unexpected we can say this;

"Through the deep silence she has embarked,
Leaving no footprint of the path she trod.
Straight as an arrow cleaving to its mark,
Her should went home to be with God,"

Sarah Ellen Oxford was born January 4, 1871. When a small child her parents died and she was reared in the home of an aunt. She grew to womanhood near Akron, Harrison County, Missouri and united in marriage with Harve Easton of that locality on January 12, 1890. They established a home near that place and to their union were born eight children; Floyd, San Francisco, California; Roy, Garden Grove, Iowa; Mrs. B. M. O'Brian of South Dakota; Mrs. F. M. Chapman, Cainsville, Missouri,; Lawrence of Iowa; Chalmers and Jess, both of Eagleville, Missouri, and Fred of Blythedale, Missouri.
This home, to the casual onlooker, might have seemed commonplace, as it was not pretentious, but this mother made it a happy spot by her presence. The family chain remained unbroken until six years ago when Father Eastin was called from them. Since that time she has been in the homes of her children and in an apartment in Cainsville. It was the latter place that her death occurred suddenly on the morning of August 2.
We can recall no poem more fitting, one that could express the sentiments of her children or describer her loving, kind personality, than the following:

"You've sacrificed so much because of me,
So very much I never can repay.
with dauntless courage you have held the course
And always thrown your light along my way.

"Oh, if one faith in all the world remained,
That faith would be your love,
This trust will reach across the bridge of time,
Enduring as the stars that glow above.

"And as the long years come and go their way,
I Know that even though your work is through,
Your should would span the miles of endless space.,
To stand beside me, if I needed you."

Funeral services were held from the Christian Church of Cainsville, August 6, the Rev. Elba Dale officiating. The final resting place ws by the side of the companion in Eastin Cemetery, Near Pleasanton, Iowa. those carrying her there were Roy Hulling, Harve Hogan, Lloyd DeLong, North Phillips, Enos and Lan Eastin. Besides her children, she is survived by 27 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren.
