Mrs. Ruby Beverley Hickox, 91, of Waycross, GA passed away Wednesday morning (March 13, 2014) at Baptist Village Retirement Communities following an extended illness.

She was born, the first of identical twin girls, on July 3, 1922 in Ware County to the late Newton Beverley, Sr. and Ida Mae Pittman Beverley. She was a devoted wife and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She also enjoyed fishing and was a wonderful cook. She was primarily a homemaker but worked for a couple of years in the lunch room at Gilchrist Park Elementary School. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Waycross but also enjoyed the church of her youth, Suwannee Chapel Church of God of Prophecy.

She was preceded in death by her husband of forty-seven years, George W. Hickox. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Johnson Beverley, Newton Beverley, Jr., and J.D. Beverley, and sisters, Annie King, Carrie Boatright, and Minor Bennett Maine. She is survived by her son, Robert M. Hickox (wife Betty) of Savannah, GA and Virgil Hickox (wife Patsy) of Nashville, GA; four grandchildren, Patricia Hunt (husband Anthony), Phillip Hickox (wife Ileana), Amy Fackler, and Rebecca Jenkins; 13 great grandchildren; and several beloved nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her twin sister, Jessie Welch (husband Ralph J.) of Waycross.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday (March 16, 2014) at the Music Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends Saturday evening at Music Funeral Home from 6 until 8 o'clock. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 1622 Gibbs St., Waycross, GA 31503 or Suwannee Chapel Church of God of Prophecy, 6241 Suwannee Chapel Rd., Waycross, GA 31503. The family would also like to thank those at Baptist Village who took care of Mrs. Hickox over the years especially everyone on Hall 600. Music Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
