AGED LITTLE ELK RESIDENT IS DEAD

Bernard Pechan Is Summond at His Home Tuesday Morning.

Funeral Service To Be Conducted Tomorrow in Browerville.

Pine Island Correspondence: This community mouns the death of a kind friend and neighbor in the passing of Bernard Pechan of LIttle Elk, who died early Tuesday morning at the home of his son-in-law and daughter. Mr. & Mrs. Joseph Maschler in Little Elk.

Mr. Pechan was born January 6, 1859, in Iowa, son of Simon and Catherine Galesburg Pechan. While still a small boy he came with his parents to Minnesota, the family making its home on a farm near Watkins, where he grew to manhood and married Miss Lavina Kissinger in 1883. They farmed in that community for several years and then moved to Browerville where they lived for one and a half years and then moved to Little Elk. When Mr. Pechan became ill in October of this year, he was taken to the home of his son-in-law and daughter.

To Mr. and Mrs. Pechan were born seven children as follows: Matthias, Mrs. Joseph (Caroline) Maschler of Little Elk, Edward of Crosby, Simon of Alto, Calif., Mrs. Peter (Catherine) Miller of Paynesville and Mrs. Lavina Kempnick of Randall. The above children with their mother survive. One daughter, Regina, preceded the father in death. Also surviving are an adopted son, Harold Pechan, of Little Elk, 29 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted tomorrow (Friday) morning at 10'clock at St. Peter's Catholic church in Browerville with Rev. Fr. Buseman officiating. Interment will be made in the church cemetery. In addition to being a member of the church Mr. Pechan was also a member of the Precious Blood society.

Ben and Lavina adopted Harold Isadore Sickles (Pechan) from the Orphan Train.
