Obituary: Miss Ethelyn Chapin, 15 –Year Old Daughter of Mr and Mrs. S.R. Chapin Passed Away. Miss Ethelyn Chapin, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. S.R. Chapin, passed away at the home on the Wattsburg road, about two miles north of this city on Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from influenza, aged 15 years. The passing away of Miss. Ethelyn is a severe shock to the entire community as she was only ill with the dread disease for a few days and many of the neighbors did not know of her illness. She was a junior in the high school in Union City and was a prime favorite among her classmates and will be sorely missed by her young associates. Besides her parents she is survived by three sisters and two brothers as follows;Misses Waive, Wilma and Velmah Chapin and Masters Earl and Rulaf Chapin, also by her grandmother Mrs. Samuel Brown of this city, besides more distant relatives who will have the sympathy of all in their bereavement.Funeral services were held from the Baptist Church in this city Wednesday morning at 11 o'clock, conducted by Rev. D.L. Woods, pastor of the Kane Baptist Church, but a former pastor of the local Baptist church, who paid a glowing tribute to the beautiful Christian life of Miss. Chapin. The members of the Junior Class at the high school attended the funeral in a body. The interment was in Evergreen Cemetery. The many beautiful floral offerings spoke silently of the esteem in which this young lady was held by those who knew her best.
