The funeral rites of Samuel Ray Chapin, Union City, PA., R.F.D. No.1, were held from the late home, November 11 with Rev. Ford Persons of Erie, officiating. Interment followed in Evergreen cemetery. Mr. Chapin, son of Mr. and Mrs. O. A. Chapin, was born near Lincolnville in a log house in 1871. He was a lifelong member and faithful worker of the church, where he will be sorely missed as one who was always ready and willing to help in need. A life-long resident of this vicinity he was employed by the Shreve Cut Hay Works as foreman for several years, also for W. L. Mitchell Cut Hay Works. He was also in the Machinery business on Main street and later bought tracts of timber for the Shreve Chair Co. From there he retired to the farm where he has since resided. In 1893 he was united in marriage to Miss. Dolly Brown, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Brown of Chapinville. To this union were born six children four of whom are living, Mrs. Waive Barton, Mr. Earl Chapin, Mr. Rulaf Chapin, all residing near Union City and Velma, at home. Besides his widow and children he leaves to mourn his absence ten grandchildren and two sisters.
