Cassell Francis, 84, of Farmington died June 30, 1997, at the Christian Northeast Hospital in St. Louis County.

He was born on April 18, 1913, in Madison County, son of the late Edward and Safrona (Pippin) Francis.

He was also preceded in death by five brothers: Everett, Leo, Earl, Jesse, and Melvin Francis and three sisters; Anna, Mae, and Myrtle.

Mr. Francis served his nation in the United States Army Air Corps during WWII.

He was a charter member of the First Free Will Baptist Church of Farmington.

He was also a member of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter No.1 in St. Louis.

He is survived by his wife, Zola Huffman Francis of the home; one son, Kevin Cassell Francis and wife Sharon of Tulsa, OK; two daughters; Judy Elaine (Mrs. Tom) Weddle of Farmington and Martha Jane Blaines of Houston, TX; and by one brother, Noah Francis of Fredericktown.

Also, surviving are seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Cozean Funeral Home after 4 p.m. on Tuesday, July 1, 1997.

Funeral services will be held at the First Free Will Baptist Church at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 2, 1997, with the Rev. Roger Hogan officiating.

Burial will follow at the Marcus Memorial Cemetery in Fredericktown.

Memorials may be made to the First Free Will Baptist Church or to the American Lung Association.
