Her maiden name was also Deppe. She and her husband were first cousins, once removed. Her great grandfather had two wives and each had a son: One was Karl August Deppe and the other Johann Heinrich Sr. It is from these lines that she and Alfred came. She and Alfred married April 22, 1888 in Aquashicola (village), Lower Towamensing Twp., Carbon Co., PA, J. S. Newhart. They had 12 children having 4 dying young. She remarried after Alfred's death to Edwin Hoffman in 1919.
