The Akins Funeral Home of Blue Ridge announces funeral services Mr. Garland Wayland Postell, age 91 of Mineral Bluff, GA who passed away on May 23, 2010.

Born in Andrews, NC he was the son of the late Henry and Ella Derryberry Postell. He served his country during WWII in the United States Navy. Mr. Postell was a Timber Cutter and a long time member of the Salem #2 Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ella Mae Higdon Postell; and two grandchildren, Wayland Ramey and Amanda Davenport.

Survivors include two sons and daughter-in-laws, Wayne Ray and Deborah Postell of Crossville, TN and John Hardy and Betty Ledford of Andrews, NC; daughters and sons-in-laws, Lelia and Jamie Ryan of Mineral Bluff, GA, Jane and David Davenport of Blue Ridge, GA, Judy and Ron Cook of Morganton, GA, Linda Campbell of Blue Ridge, GA and Joan Hughes of Murphy, NC; brother, Marvin Postell of Andrews, NC; sister, Leora Roper of Andrews, NC; twenty grandchildren, twenty one great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday May 25, 2010 from the Akins Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Roy Clore officiating. Interment will follow in the Salem #2 Baptist Church Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Jeremy Ramey, Wesley Cook, Levi Campbell, Elijah Postell, Justin Postell and Neal Ledford. Full military honors will be provided by the North Georgia Honor Guard.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday evening from 6-9 p.m.
