Ova Stephens, 82, of Route 1 Sandy Hook, passed away Sunday morning, September 5, 2010, in the Elliott County Nursing and Rehab Center.
Mr. Stephens was born January 10, 1928, in Elliott County, Kentucky a son of the late John Frank and Eva Barker Stephens. His wife, Mabel Bays Stephens, preceded him in death.
Ova was a retired farmer and attended Wallowhole Independent Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by one brother, Ora Stephens, two sisters, Suzie Ison and Jewel Stamper Thompson, one nephew, Little Ova Stephens.
He is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Bobby and Molly Lewis of Sandy Hook, KY., Lonnie Lewis of Richmond, KY., and Arthur and Connie Lewis, of Berea, KY., one daughter and son-in-law, Louise and Isaac Smith of Olive Hill, KY., two brothers and sisters-in-law, Richard and Kathryn Stephens, Ernest and Ruth Ann Stephens all of Sandy Hook, KY., three sisters, Blanch Stephens and Roxie Smith both of Sandy Hook, KY., Louise Bricky of Grayson, KY., and a very special friend James Stafford, six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, twenty one nephews, fifteen nieces.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, September 8, 2010, at the Wallowhole Independent Baptist Church with Brother Gary Sparks and Brother Billy T. Rice officiating. Burial will follow in the Lyons Family Cemetery at Wallowhole.
Friends may call after 1 p.m. Tuesday and anytime until the service hour Wednesday at Wallowhole Independent Baptist Church.
Arvil Stephens, Dee Stephens, Witty Stephens, Johnnie Smith, Edwards Stephens, Lonnie Barker will serve as pallbearers.
Richard Stephens, Ernest Stephens, Andy Smith, Matt Smith, Adam Smith and Isaac Smith will serve as honorary pallbearers.
