ROSS W. BURCH DEAD, AGE 80

Ross W. Burch, age 80, one of the well-known old men of the city, died at two o'clock this morning at the home on East 5th Street. Death resulted from complications arising from the flu, but Mr. Burch had been in poor health for several years. His poor health started when he was bitten by a cat. The feline was caught in a rat trip when Mr. Burch attempted to release it, and the cat turned on him. Blood poisoning resulted from the deep gashes the cat clawed in the hand and arms of Mr. Burch. He never entirely recovered from the effects of this blood poisoning.

Mr. Burch was a member of the Fairview Methodist Church and the Red Men. He is survived by the wife; two daughters, Mrs. Robert Jones of Tampa, Fla., and Mrs. E. S. Poole of this city; and one son, Lovel (consider Lovell a spelling variant) Burch. The funeral will be held at two o'clock Saturday at the Fairview Church in charge of Rev. Schnieder, and burial will be at Rose Hill. The pallbearers: Rice Stanger; Frank Murphy, Virgil Burch, Jesse Neill and Alva and Luther Pryor. The Red Men will have charge of the services at the cemetery.
