Bessie Bernice (Berniss) Hudnall, the daughter of Albert and Elizabeth Davis Ferris, was born at Archer, Nebraska on November 24, 1893. Her death occurred at Aurora, Nebraska on October 18, 1980, having attained the age of 86 years, 10 months and 24 days.

She spent her earliest days in the vicinity of her birth. Later the family joined others from their vicinity and traveled to Wyoming by covered wagon, where the family farmed for several years. She attended school in Wyoming until high school, when she would spend the school years with her grandmother in Palmer and received her high school education there, graduating in 1910.

On September 24, 1913, she was united in marriage to Ray Hudnall at the home of her grandparents De Moss, in Central City, Nebraska. Three children were born to them. They farmed in the Palmer area until 1919, when they moved to Boelus, Nebraska in 1919. In 1927 they moved to a farm near Erickson, Nebraska where they farmed for one year and then returned to the Palmer area, where they were residing at the time of her husband's death on December 11, 1931. Since his death, she resided for a while at Palmer, later moving to Colorado. In 1965 she moved to Aurora to be near her son, Albert.

Mrs. Hudnall was a longtime member of the Assembly of God Faith and since residing in Aurora was a member of the congregation here, as long as her health permitted. The song, "Jesus is Guiding My Steps All The Way" which is being used in her funeral service is a song she wrote and composed and was copyrighted by her in 1946.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one daughter, Evelyn Fisher and one sister, Mrs. Edith Scarborough.

Her survivors include one son, A.E. "Burt" Hudnall of Aurora; one daughter Mrs. Della Mae Lombard of Ashland, Nebraska; two brothers, Ralph Ferris of St. Paul, Nebraska and Lynn Ferris of Oxnard, California; one sister Mrs. Rena Colburn of Reseda, California; 12 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren and other relatives and close friends who will cherish her memory.
