In 1841, the family was living in Liverpool, England.
On October 13, 1868 Dorcas married Leonard Mollenhauer in Christ Church in Everton, Lancashire, England. Leonard and Dorcas had four children; Henry James (1869-1945), Leonard William (1871-aft 1930), Frank John (1873-1928), and Edith Maud (1876-1960), all born in Liverpool.
In 1877, the family left Liverpool on a White Star Liner to make their home in America. They settled in Jersey City, New Jersey, where Leonard was employed in a Postal Office.
