Francis S. Dayhoff, 88, of Gettysburg died Saturday, March 17, at his home.
Mr. Dayhoff was born Dec. 19, 1918 in Adams County to the late Samuel and Grace (Sterner) Dayhoff. He was married to Helen (Herman) Dayhoff for 60 years.
Francis served in the Army Air Corps during World War II and was a lineman for the telephone company. He was also a farmer. He was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Littlestown and collected old bottles and telephone insulators.
He is survived by three daughters, Connie A. Leatherman of Wellsboro, Karen F. Plyes of Littlestown, and Sharon K. Topper of Gettysburg; eight grandchildren; and two brothers, Kenneth J. Dayhoff and Robert J. Dayhoff, both of Gettysburg.
He was predeceased by a brother, Theron Dayhoff; and two sisters, Alta Flickinger and Bernice Appler.
Interment will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Gettysburg with the Littlestown Allied Veterans Council conducting full military honors.
Pallbearers will be Patrick Keller, Eric Leatherman, Robert Bowers, Jesse Rothenhoefer Jr., Nathan Hess and Thomas Topper.
