WILLIAMS RITES CONDUCTED HERE TODAY
Funeral services for Kit Williams, 95, Childress County pioneer and a member of a pioneer family, were held at 2 p.m. today in the Newberry Funeral Chapel.
J. R. Chism, pastor of the Childress Church of Christ, officiated and burial was in the Childress Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Harold Halford, John Robinson, Bob and Watt Foard, Gene Frisbie, Billy W. Lanham, H. W. Thaten and J. D. Mills.
Mr. Williams was born February 4, 1881, in Sunshine, Colo., and came to Childress with his parents in a covered wagon in 1886 from Georgetown, Texas.
He was a retired farmer in the Carey Community. He had retired and moved to Dallas about four years ago where he died at 7:10 p.m. Saturday.
Survivors include three sons, Kit Jr., of Phoenix, B. T. of Plano and Fred of New Orleans; five daughters, Mrs. Floriene Ohlen of Fort Worth, Mrs. Ruth Murdock of Dallas, Mrs. Bettye Clinton of Miami, Fla., Mrs Juanita McElroy of Plainview and Mrs. Janie Davis of Alvardo, Texas; two brothers, George and Wilbur, both of Childress; two sisters, Mrs. Daisy Hollingsworth of Childress and Mrs. Bennie Cain of Miles City, Mont., 11 grandchildren and four greatgrandchildren.
