Mrs. Martha Battin, widow of the late Robert Battin, died at her home in Chapmanville at 6:30 o'Clock on Tuesday evening, in her 73rd year. Mrs. Battin was apparently in her usual good health until just about 20 minutes before her death when she suffered a stoke of apoplexy.
She was married in 1870 and to this union three children were born two of whom survive, as follows: Mrs. S.B. Smith, of Bradleytown and C.L. Battin of Chapmanville. Two sisters, Mrs. Amanda Schultz, of Erie; Mrs. Fannie Williams, of Bradleytown, and one half sister, Mrs. Lisia Zeigler, of Warren, O. She was a faithful member of Chapmanville M.E.
