She attended school at Quitaque and at the age of 12 became a member of the First Baptist Church with the acceptance as Christ as her Savior. She worked in food service and as a clerk most o her life while raising 5 children alone. At one time she sang with a country music band for a few years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, two sisters, one half brother, three half sisters, and two grandsons.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband and love of her life Rusty Roy John McClellan of their home in Blanchard, Ok, one daughter Laquieta Bernice Norton of Oklahoma City, Ok, four sons Billy Wayne Norton of Oklahoma City, Ok, Johnny Russell Norton of Nobel, Ok, Walter Allen Thorp of Dayton, Fl, Michael Ray Thorp of Benton Harbor, MI, thirteen loving grandchildren, fifteen precious great-grandchildren, two sisters La Von Joy Donica of Garland, Tx, Sharon Ladell Kell of Quitaque, Tx, and a host of nieces and nephews and friends throughout Oklahoma and Texas.
Memorial services will be Saturday, August 28, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. in the Methodist Church in Quitaque, Tx. Bring your memories to share. Officiating will be Jerry Beck and family friend Rev. Gail Giller of Lubbock.
Interment will be with her mother in Quitaque Resthaven Cemetery under the direction of Shannon Funeral Home of Matador.
