Lyda B. Spivey, age 95 of Connersville, passed away on Wednesday August 25, 2010 at Fayette Regional Health System.

Lyda was born on June 17, 1915 in Lee County, Kentucky. She is one of six children born to Levi and Lillie Tackett Brandenburg.

On June 18, 1939 in Kentucky she became the bride of Laban Spivey and they moved to the Connersville area in 1946.

She is a member of the Western Avenue Baptist church and had worked at Porcelain Steel and later H.H. Robertson for many years, retiring in 1980.

In her leisure time she enjoyed gardening, making quilts and reading.

In addition to her husband, Laban, she is survived by two sisters, Bertha Francis of Norwood, OH and Effie Thomas of Tyner, KY; two brothers in law, Bruce and his wife Lois Spivey and James Spivey all of Connersville, as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a sister, Eula Carlisle and two brothers, Dorsey and Lynn D. Brandenburg.

Funeral services will be held at Urban Winkler Funeral Home on Saturday August 28, 2010 at 11:00 am with Pastor Troy Bishop of the Western Ave Baptist Church officiating.

Burial will follow at Dale Cemetery.
