She was born April 25, 1920 in Lee County, Kentucky, one of six children of Levi and Lillie Tackett Brandenburg.
On December 29, 1945, she was married in Newport, Kentucky to Elton Steve Carlisle, Jr. And they came to Connersville for residence in 1946. Mr. Carlisle died March 16, 2004.
For over 40 years, she was a crossing guard for the Maplewood School District and was actively working right up until her passing.
A Charter Member of the Connersville Baptist Temple, she was a former member of Calvary Baptist Church.
In her leisure time she enjoyed gardening, canning vegetables and quilting.
Survivors include two daughters: Janet Lee Martin and husband, Danny of Connersville and Patti Jean Boger and husband Michael of Brookville, IN; three grandchildren: Nicholas Poe of Jacksonville, FL, Andrea Renee Fudge and husband J. Christopher of Connersville, and Jason Michael Boger of Indianapolis; two great granddaughters, Mercedes Lynn and Lexie Renee Fudge; three sisters: Bertha Francis, Lyda Spivey and Effie Thomas; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents; two brothers: Darcie Brandenburg and Lynn Brandenburg; and a son-in-law: Harold Martin.
Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Randall Collins of the Connersville Baptist Temple at 11 AM Saturday, May 16, 2009 in Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home, where friends may call from 4-8 PM on Friday. Burial will be in Dale Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made at the funeral home to the Gideons International Ministry.
