Died, at his home south of Cuba, Saturday, April 30, Amos W. Buffum, aged nearly 70 years. About two weeks prior to his death he was stricken with paralysis, but had recovered sufficiently to be out the day before his death, but suffered a relapse. His remains were buried at the Wright church Sunday afternoon.
Mr. Buffum was one of the oldest pioneers of this county, coming here with his parents from Ohio in 1830. He was married in 1846 to Miss Lucinda Warfield, who with five girls and four boys survive him.—People's Press

Amos was the 2nd of 4 children born to Daniel Buffum b 1798 Vt d 1864 & Hannah Wells b abt 1784 CT.
His father Daniel is also bur here at Wright's Cemetery.
Amos m Lucinda Warfield 12 Nov 1846. They had 11 children.
In addition to being a farmer, Amos was a timberman and a great coon and fox houndsman. He was also a cabinet maker & he made all of the family's furniture.
Family records say Amos is buried here at Wright's Cemetery, 3 miles NE of Lewistown, IL.

CHILDREN: Mark, Daniel, Frank, Ora, Eva (Taylor), Hannah (Munson), Cornelia (Huff), Caroline (Routson), Hellen S.; Ara W. died in infancy. Jesse Theodore Buffum is listed with the family in the 1880 census, but he is Caroline Buffum Routson's son.
