From The Palmer Journal, February 25, 1954, page 1, transcribed by Linda Berney:

Frank Burkman was born at Elington, Iowa, January 30, 1872 and passed away at Palmer, Nebraska February 17, 1954 at the age of 82 years and 18 days. He was the son of Warren and Elma Burkman. At an early age he was united with the Methodist Church.

When he was seven years old his family moved to Cedar Rapids, Ia, then later to various places in Nebraska, including living on a far on what was called Horse Creek, an Indian Reservation across the river from Palmer. Finally the family purchased a farm in Loup Valley near Palmer which was their home for many years.

On February 22, 1894, he was united in marriage with Della Linder at Central City. To this union were born eleven children, Christina and Bert passing away in infancy. He was preceded in death by his wife and two daughters, Ethel and Bessie (Mrs. B. L. Hood).

His daughters have been grateful for his active interest in their early education, drilling them often in Spelling and Arithmetic. He helped with their music, too, himself playing the violin for many years. He was a member of a band lead by Mr. Edward Sullivan of Archer.

He leaves to mourn his passing one sister, Mrs. Pearl Yarmon of Grand Island and seven daughters, Mrs. Ralph Ferris (Grace) of Boelus, Mrs. Donald Campbell (Ina) and Mrs. Wayne Wymer (Alice) of Central City, Mrs. August Rudolf (Della) of Palmer, Mrs. LaVerne White (Frankye) of North Hollywood, California, Mrs. Noah Engle (Lucille) of Meriden, Connecticut and Mrs. Bartlett Sullivan (Elaine) of Inglewood, California. There are thirteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

[....Funeral details...] All of the daughters except Mrs. White and Mrs. Sullivan of Calif., were here to attend the funeral; also the sister, Mrs. Yarmon of Grand Island was present.
