Elma Elizabeth Folsom was born at Otsego, Wisconsin, June 10, 1850.

She was married to Warren C. Burkman March 6, 1867 at Clear Lake, Iowa.

She died at Grand Island September 18, 1929 at St. Francis Hospital, where she had been taken for treatment on the previous Sunday.

She had been seriously ill with intestinal trouble for about two weeks.

Mr. and Mrs. Burkman moved to Nebraska and settled on a farm four and a half miles northeast of the present town of Palmer in 1877.

To them five children were born, all of whom are living and were with her during her last illness.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday afternoon, September 21, 1929 by Rev. E. H. Tipton of the Methodist Episcopal Church, and were held in the Christian Church.

Mrs. Burkman was an every-day Christian. The beautifying influence of a practical religion were spread over a life and character as spotless and charming as was possessed by the noble women that lived and died during the ages that are gone, and her life was a blessing and a benefaction to all who came within the sphere of her influence.
