This community was saddened by news of the death of Mrs. John Adams, which occurred at her home in this village, last Friday.

Mary Elizabeth Lafferty was born in Felicity, Clermont County, Ohio, October 27, 1845, being 70 years, 1 month and twenty days old at the time of her death.

She moved with her parents to Illinois in 1851. She was united in marriage to John D. Adams October 27, 1869, and in 1872, they moved to Nebraska.

To this union were born nine children, five boys and four girls, all of which, with the exception of one daughter, who died in infancy, survive her.

She united with the Christian Church at Palmer February 27, 1894, and has been a faithful member of that organization ever since.

She leaves to mourn her departure, a sorrowing husband, and children, thirty-six grandchildren, one great-grandchild and a large number of friends.

The funeral, which was one of the largest ever held in this village, was conducted at the Christian Church Sunday afternoon, the Reverend H. H. Utterbach officiating.

As the death dew gathered on her brow, her children now grown to maturity with families of their own, were at her bedside. The life so long interwoven with theirs, with tearful eyes they watched as it slowly ebbed away. She was always "mother" to them; rejoicing in their success, grieving at their misfortune. Throughout their lives the memory of her unselfish devotion, will make them better men and women, and her precepts be an inspiration to them.
