Eula Lee Harkins Spence passed away July 28, 2010. Eula Lee was born in Blairsville, GA, January 6, 1947, to Emory and Bonnie Chambers Harkins.
After graduating Union County High School, she went to Atlanta, GA, where she was employed by Southern Bell, which later became Bell South. She was promoted to the Accounting Department as Manager and worked a total of 20 years while living in Roswell, GA. After retiring, she and her husband traveled seventeen years. She felt blessed to have the opportunity to return to her family and roots in the mountains that she loved, although she was unable to enjoy it very long before she was taken ill. Eula Lee was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and Choestoe Baptist Church in Blairsville.
Eula Lee was preceded in death by her father and mother Emory and Bonnie Harkins, brothers James Rowe and J.C., and sister Norma Jean Harkins Jones. Although Eula Lee had no children of her own, she had a host of nieces and nephews she mothered over the years and they all loved her dearly. She is survived by husband Robert Spence; brother and sister-in-law Charles and Yvonne Harkins of Atlanta, GA; sister Sybil Tyre of Blairsville, GA; sister-in-law Margie Harkins of Blairsville; several nieces and nephews; great nieces and great nephews and great-great nephews. Our dear sister and aunt will truly be missed.
