A Heart Ailment Fatal-- She was 75

Mrs. Opal Dean Uhlig, widow of Paul Uhlig, passes away at 4:00 Friday morning at her home in Seneca (Kansas). Though her death from cardiac asthma came as sudden, she had not been well for some 15 months.

Mrs. Uhlig was born Feb. 13, 1875 and her death on March 3, 1950 was at the age of 75 years and eighteen days.

The funeral service was held Sunday afternoon at the Congregational Church at Seneca, conducted by Rev. Homer C. Marlatt. Burial was at the Seneca Cemetery. The Thornburg Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Uhlig's maiden name was Opal Dean Adams. She was born at Saxton, Mo., the daughter of John and Frances Adams. On March 2, 1898, she was married to Paul J. Uhlig at St. Joseph Mo. They came to Seneca in 1934 to make their home, and for a number of years Mr. Uhlig was a circulation man for the St. Joseph News-Press and Gazette. He passed away November 23, 1945. They leave seven children. They are Allen Uhlig and Katheryn (Uhlig) Nutter of Seneca, John Uhlig of Mokane, Mo., Robert and Frances Uhlig of Kansas City, Kansas, Mrs. Elsie(Uhlig) Clark of Trenton, Mo., and Theodore, whose address was not learned. She is also survived by two brothers and a sister; John Adams of Greeley, Colorado., Robert Adams of Agency, Mo., and Mrs. Ada Hegar of St. Joseph.

Mrs. Uhlig was a kind, considerate mother, with her special interests in home, family and church. She was a member of the Congregational Church and of the Royal Neighbor Lodge.
