GRACE A BETTS-18: Last week's Carthage IL Gazette says: "Died at her home in Keokuk at 1AM Tuesday morning last, Grace Betts dau of Mr&Mrs Eli Betts, aged 18yrs-1mos. The re-mains arrived here on the 4:12PM train on the Wabash yesterday & were taken to the resi-dence of her uncle Mat Betts.
Yesterday afternoon impressive funeral ser-vices were conducted by Elder CJ Scofield were held in the Christian Church after which the remains were deposited in the vault at MossRidge Cem.
While living here Grace sustained an injury to her spine by a fall & although it was not considered serious at the time, it resulted in a complication of diseases & shortly after the accident the family removed to Keokuk. The serious nature of the accident made itself manifest, she was soon confined to her bed & grew steadily worse in spite of the best care & most skillful medical attention until death came to her relief. At times her suffering must have been intense but she bore it all with a patience surprising in one so young, never complaining, always hopeful.
Grace was a young lady whom all respected & loved, a dutiful dau, a true friend. She was of a kind & loving disposition & will be sadly missed by her many young frirends here & all unite in expressions of sympathy for the family which has been so sorely bereaved.
