Reverend Clifton Earl Wallace, Sr., age 92 of Hartsville, SC died during the early morning hours of May 18, 2018 after a period of declining health.

Born in Duplin County on August 16, 1925 he was the son of the late Robert Benjamin and Lula Anderson Wallace of Rose Hill, NC. In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by his wife of forty-six years, Margaret Barnhill Wallace and his second wife, Carrie Joy Wallace; son, Clifton Earl Wallace, Jr.; stepson, Clifton Graham; brothers, William Wallace and Ray Burt Wallace; sisters, Nada Jarman, Vera Brock, and Katherine Williams.

Survivors include his daughters, Marsha Ramsey of Summerfield, NC and Kathie Steen and husband Rick of Hartsville, SC; son, John Robert Wallace and wife Billie Jo of Albermarle, NC; stepsons, Ricky Graham and wife Joyce, Perry Graham and wife Teresa all of Newport, NC; three grandchildren; four step grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren.

Mr. Wallace was ordained in the ministry on June 23, 1971 and retired after serving Southern Baptist churches for many years as a minister and in giving ministerial support to a multitude of people. He is a member of Reeses Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Newport, NC. Earlier in life he was a farmer on the family farm, drove a bus for Seashore Bus Company to transport Marines from place to place, and sold Merita bread products. He enjoyed fishing, camping, gardening, working in the yard, and singing with his wife Carrie.

Funeral services were held on Sunday, May 20, 2018, 2:00 p.m. at Padgett Funeral Home in Wallace, NC. Visitation was from 1:00 to 2:00 pm prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial followed in the Wallace Family Cemetery located in the intersection of Hwy 50 and Pasture Branch Road in Rose Hill, NC.
