ALBERT WEHLING DIES AT VARNA ON FRIDAY
Albert Wehling, a resident of Varna a great number of years, died Friday morning, August 3, 1928, following a several days illness. At the time of his death the deceased was 52 years, 10 months, and 3 days old.
Gustaf Albert Wehling was born near Varna September 20, 1875. Mr. Wehling, who had been in the best of health, complained some of dizziness the fore part of last week, but nothing serious was thought of it, until Wednesday morning, he suddenly became very ill, suffering a stroke of apoplexy, from which he never rallied.
He was confirmed in the St. Paul Lutheran Church May 5, 1889, of which church he remained a faithful member until his death.
On June 22, 1902, he was united in marriage to Miss Bertha Quiram. This union was blessed with two children, Nora and Erwin, who with their mother mourn the sudden departure of a loving husband and kind father. Three brothers, who reside in Nebraska, also survive.
The first three years of their married life was spent in Nebraska, after which they moved back and Mr. Wehling has since been engaged in farming in the vicinity of Varna.
Some six or seven years ago he built a new home on their farm on the northeast edge of town, and this summer he and his son have made many improvements and were engaged in painting the house and farm buildings, when he took sick. Thus ended too soon his untiring efforts to make his family comfortable and happy.
He has served as janitor of his church for a number of years and his cheery smile will be greatly missed among the people of his church as well as the entire community.
Funeral services were held from the home Sunday afternoon at 1:30 and at the church at 2 o'clock, with Rev. Manteuffel in charge. Mr. Fecht with his choir rendered
appropriate songs for the occasion.
The floral offerings were many and beautiful.
The casket bearers were: Fred Arndt, Gust, ______, Fred Nimke, Henry Schwanke, Ab. Quiram and R. Petrich.
Interment was made in the cemetery adjoining the church (St. Paul's Lutheran Church Cemetery) at Varna, IL.
Relatives from a distance present at the funeral were a sister and brother from Nebraska, and Mrs. Adams of Ohio.
