Calvin Robert Fausch, the youngest of seven children of Henry R. and Clara (Yung) Fausch, was born November 12, 1924 on a farm northeast of Guide Rock. He departed this life on Tuesday, February 27, 2001 at the Webster County Hospital in Red Cloud, Nebraska.

Bob received his formal education attending grade school at District South #78, and graduated from the Guide Rock High School in 1942. He was united in marriage with Lila Ladeane Dillin on January 20, 1945. This union was blessed with two sons, Jerry and Thomas, and two daughters, Wanda and Liz. They farmed for seventeen years, and then moved to Guide Rock. Bob was employed at the Norman Ely Lumber Company and the Guide Rock Lumber Company for thirty years. After retiring, he drove the Guide Rock Handibus.

In his retirement years Bob thoroughly enjoyed his garden and attended all the athletic sports events. He received recognition of being selected as one of the top 5 Husker Fans in Nebraska, and was later visited by Dr. Tom Osborne at the nursing home. Bob spent many hours in his garden and was known for having the largest and weedless garden, which he enjoyed sharing with family and friends. Bob was a kind and gentle person and loved his family.

He was a member of the Guide Rock United Methodist Church, the Masonic Lodge #128 A.F.&A.M., Irene Chapter #207 O.E.S., the Scottish Rite and the Tehama Temple in Hastings.

Preceding him in death were his parents; a grandson, Kevin Soucek; two brothers and a sister.
